Video of kidnapper, Evans, leaving the Federal High Court Lagos after he was sentenced to life imprisonment On Friday, February 25, Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Federal High Court in Lagos state sentenced kidnapper Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans, and two others to life in jail, Uchenna Amadi and Okuchuwkwu Nwachukwu. Evans and his co-conspirators received the sentence after being convicted on two counts of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping. Ukraine Ambassador to Nigeria, Kirdoda Valerii has told the Federal Government that it is not possible right now to evacuate Nigerian students from Ukraine as the sky is not safe. The Federal Government had earlier on Friday in Abuja summoned the Russian Ambassador to Nigeria, Alexei Shebarshin and his Ukrainian counterpart, Valerii over the raging conflict between their countries and the need to evacuate Nigerians living there. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, met with the envoys separately behind closed doors. Onyeama said he told the Russian envoy, Shebarshin that Nigeria as a country would not condone the violation of the territorial integrity of a United Nations member state, a country with which Nigeria has diplomatic relations. They were all shocked when they found out she had given birth! She brought the baby to them and they received her well. Two Unizik Student Found Dead Inside Hotel Two students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, have been discovered dead at a private hostel in the school. Naija News reports that the incident had occurred on Sunday, 20th Febuaury at the William’s Lodge, a private hostel around the school environs. The students were said to have died days without the neighbors knowing about it. However, parent of one of the deceased, named Adaeze, got worried after calling her phones countlessly without any response, before deciding to report to the police. Reacting to the development, the state police said: “there was no stench. The girl was not answering calls which got parents worried. They reported to the Police who forced the door open. No mark of violence on the bodies. “They died apparently from carbon monoxide poisoning from generator fumes. The generator was found in a closed place facing the room. The cause of death will be ascertained after autopsy.”

In a statement on his official Twitter page, the 26-year-old said he postponed the show which was to hold at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas last Sunday after receiving the report of the COVID-19 test carried out a day before. It reads: “Due to positive COVID results within the Justice Tour family, we will, unfortunately, have to postpone Sunday’s show in Las Vegas,” reads a statement on the venue’s website.  He said the fans is always his number one priority. Dana Airline, Arik, others increase cost of economy flight ticket Dana Airline, Arik and other local operators under the aegis of Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) have resolved to increase the cost of economy flight tickets to a minimum of N50, 000 nationwide. At a meeting held in Lagos which had most of the domestic operators present, the association cited the high cost of jet A1 fuel, forex scarcity, double digit inflation, increase in ground handling charges, cost of buying and importation of spare parts among others as reasons for the increase. It was gathered that at the meeting, when the issue of increment was raised, most of the operators were in agreement that the benchmark for economy ticket should be pegged at N50, 000 to most routes but that Green Africa, whose business model is that of a low cost carrier was not in total support. A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Emmanuel Alor Odafi is dead, POLITICS NIGERIA reports. Odafi was also a former Manager with Fanmilk Nigeria Plc. Aged 67, late Odafi battled high blood pressure and diabetes for 28 years before he breathed his last on January 3, 2022. In 1993, the deceased became a born-again Christian after he was diagnosed of high blood pressure and diabetes. He became very active in church activities and eventually transmogrified into a pastor in the True Worshippers Pentecostal Mission, and subsequently ministered in the RCCG. Born on December 3, 1954, in Ukwumege village, Illah, Delta State, Odafi had his primary education at St John’s Catholic School, Illah, and later graduated from Onward Stenographic Bureau, Illah, as a trained shorthand and typewriting expert in 1975.   The first defence witness in the trial of Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James alias Baba Ijesha, charged with defilement, on Thursday, claimed that portions of the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage on the allegation, were edited. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the witness, Mr Lawrence Ayeni, also testified before an Ikeja Special Offences Court that the actor and the minor he allegedly defiled were both acting out a script in the footage. Ayeni, a graduate of Mechanical Engineering, said that he was experienced in video production and CCTV installation and maintenance. Led in evidence by co-lead defence counsel, Mr Babatunde Ogala (SAN), the witness told the court that one of the CCTV recordings of the alleged encounter had been tampered with at the point of editing.
