Following the Super Eagles fine form at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, the Nigeria Football Federation has been told to consider paying Augustine Eguavoen the same salary they paid sacked German coach, Gernot Rohr.
Nigeria dismissed Rohr prior to the commencement of the tournament and Eguavoen was appointed on an interim basis.
Rohr reportedly collected an eye-watering $45,000 per month all the while he coached the senior national team of Nigeria.
And Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, is demanding that the same amount of money be made available to Eguavoen who has changed the lackadaisical attitude previously in the Super Eagles’ dressing room.
“Meanwhile, on a serious note, our NFF should consider paying Augustine Eguavoen the same mega bucks they paid Gernot Rohr.
“We can’t pay Rohr millions for delivering failure and pay Eguavoen less for delivering success. My people, do I speak well in this?” He wrote.
He further sent a message to President Muhammadu Buhari, asking the Nigerian leader to consider trying out our local doctors instead of wasting money on foreigners.
“Dear Buhari,” he tweeted, adding, “You see how the local coach, Austine Eguavoen, is doing better than the multimillion dollar foreign coach, Gernot Rohr? Maybe our local doctors would prove to be better than your multimillion UK doctors if you give them a chance.”
